Scorers: EthanMagic moment: Ethan's fantastic lob from the edge of the area for the goal, the only high point in a poor game for Marshfield. Marshfield Lose on the Road. Warminster Highbury 2 - 0 Marshfield Juniors The volcanic ash cloud cast it's shadow over Marshfield at the weekend, despite the glorious weather. With key players stranded overseas or at scout camp and others injured, Marsfield were down to just 11 fit and available players. With many playing out of position, including a rare outing in goal for Josher, the visitors were forced to start with 10 men as the ash cloud caused further disruption to the team's travel plans from Marshfield (at least that's what Ken claimed). When Alexander finally made it on to the pitch and Ken had finished apologising to Mike, Marshfield started to play some decent football. It was another hard and bobbly pitch and passing was difficult, but Ethan looked as dangerous as ever, this time playing up front with Aneiron. Rory started well in the centre of midfield and was shown the ropes by the ever dependable Mas. Marshfield had a couple of chances to take the lead but the final pass or shot never quite found the mark. As the game wore on the home team started to assert their authority and came close to opening the scoring when a viscious shot from the centre forward rattled the post. The Marshfield back four of Harry W, Josh, Alexander and Elias looked solid and coped with the pressure well until just a few minutes before half time when a misunderstanding between the two Josh's led to a scrappy goal for Warminster. Playing down the slope in the second half Marshfield again looked dangerous on the break, but just couldn't find the end product to trouble the keeper. As the game wore on, the pattern of the first half was repeated and Warminster got the crucial second goal with 15 minutes to go, this time a great move that left Josher with no chance. Harry S and Charlie tried to find width and set up several counter attacks, but as Marshfield began to tire Warminster could and probably should have scored again. By the end of the game they had scored two, but hit the woodwork 4 times. A tough day on the road for a young Marshfield side, let's hope the travel disruption eases soon and the team can get back to full strength. Scorers: Magic moment: The charmed life of the Marshfield goal when the cross bar was left wobbling again. Corsham Bump Marshfield Off Course. AFC Corsham 4 - 2 Marshfield Juniors Marshfield's great run of form came to an end at a very bumpy Leafy Lane on Sunday. It was a scrappy game from start to finish with an alarming number of mishits and 'shanked' passes as the poor playing surface denied either side the chance to play any decent football. Marshfield had only 11 fit and available players and whilst they all batttled hard, too many were not on top form against a team that has struggled in the league this season. As both teams battled to find any rhythmn Corsham looked the more dnagerous, committing 3 or 4 players in attack and finding some width down the left wing. They took the lead after 20 minutes with a somewhat scrappy goal and doubled it just a few minutes later, when a hopeful punt into the box was caught by the wind and dipped just under the cross bar to leave Henry with no chance. Marshfield continued to battle and won a free kick on the edge of the area just before half time. Josher hit a magnicent drive from 20 yards out that looped over the wall and sailed into the top corner. 2-1 down at half time and a glimmer of hope for the visitors. The second half continued in much the same vein with both teams really struggling to control the ball, which all too often seemed to have a mind of its own. Corsham extended their lead with another 2 scrappy goals, both comming from goal mouth scrambles. Marshfield heads started to go down and the visiting fans started to fear a big defeat. However, they found a little solace in what turned out to be a consolation goal from Rory 5 minutes from time, when he cleverly chipped the keeper after good work by Ethan down the left. All in all it was a game that the players, fans and coaches will all want to forget in a hurry. Let's hope that the next match away to Warminster provides a better surface and allows Marshfield to rediscover their passing game. Scorers: Josher, Rory. Magic moment: Josher's free kick, Beckham would have been proud of that one. 5 Star Performance from Marshfield. Bishops Cannings 0 - 5 Marshfield Juniors A solid victory for Marshfield away at bottom of the table Bishops Cannings on Sunday. The big and physical home side tried to exert their home advantage early on and playing on a smaller pitch than usual, Marshfield struggled to find their range with passes. Early chances were few and far between, the best of them falling to Callum. Enjoying his new role up front, he raced through on a long ball from midfield but his shot was well saved by the keeper. As the game began to settle, Marshfield started to look the more threatening and it was the visitors who opened the scoring with a trademark Ethan goal. He beat the offside trap to race down the left wing, cut back into the box and slid the ball home. That seemed to settle Marshfield and they quickly added two more goals when Callum pounced on more long balls from midfield, this time beating the keeper twice in similar fashion. 3 up at the break and promises of extra jaffa cake rations from the coaches if Marshfield could reach 6. The second half started in much the same vein, Marshfield trying to establish their passing game and looking threatening on the break. The back four looked solid and the home attack rarely troubled Henry in goal. Rory set up the 4th goal when he raced into the box down the right wing, only to be tripped by the full-back, earning a penalty. Josher stepped up and blasted the ball into the roof of the net with a confident spot kick. The home team began to tire and Jerm's tireless running in midfield created more chances for the visitors, Callum coming agonisingly close to his hat-trick on two or three occassions. It was Mas who scored the goal of the game, when the ball came to him 25 yards out, he sized up the angles and hit a sublime volley that arced over the defence and the despairing keeper before dropping into the top right corner of the net. A stunning goal, rightly admired by all. That's how it finished, so no extra jaffa cakes but credit for a hard-workng, if not particularly elegant performance. Credit to the defence of Alexander, Josh, Harry S, Harry W and Alistair for protecting Henry and securing another clean sheet and to super-sub Aneiron, who came within a whisker of a goal to celebrate his birthday. Scorers: Ethan, Callum 2, Josher (pen), Mas Magic moment: Mas' fantastic strike for the fifth goal, not sure if it was delight or surprise on his face when it sailed majestically into the top corner. The reaction of his team mates was fantastic, a contender for goal of the season. Worton & Cheverell Ghost Laid to Rest Worton & Cheverell 2 - 4 Marshfield Juniors A fantastic performance from Marshfield against high-flying Worton & Cheverell on Sunday saw the visitors romp to a rare victory against what has been something of a bogey team for Marshfield. A new formation had Callum playing up front on his own supported by a 5 man midfield, with Ethan and Rory on the flanks and central trio of Josher, Jerm and Charlie. The back four was Alistair, Josh, Mas and Harry W. It took a while for the new formation to gel but Marshfield began to dominate the game and started to create chances. Ethan had the opposition full-back in his pocket and made countless runs down the left, whilst Callum looked threatening in the box, his size and pace troubling the opposition centre backs. However, W&C still looked dangerous on the break but the back four held the line well and caught the home strikers offside time and time again, much to the annoyance of the home coaches. But a positional switch paid off and they finally beat the offside trap to race through and score against the run of play. Marshfield were temporarily stunned but responded magnificently with three goals in a stunning 10 minutes just before the break. The first came when Callum's fierce shot was spilled by the W&C keeper and super-sub Aneiron pounced on the rebound to slot home from 6 yards. The visiting supporters were still cheering when Ethan scored the goal of the game with an exquisite left foot lob from the edge of the area. He almost made it three just a couple of minutes later when he jinked into the box and fired low to the keepers left, his shot was saved but the keeper spilled it again and this time it was Callum who took full advantage, taking the ball away from the scrabbling goalie and tapping in for number 3. Two goals to the good at half time and Mike and Ken told the lads to just keep playing as they had been and not to panic. The second half got off to the best possible start when Ethan stormed up the left again, rounded the full back and cut back into the box, this time his shot was too hot to handle and the W&C net bulged for a fourth time. Playing down the considerable slope in the second half the home team threw everything forward in a desperate attempt to get back into the game. They nearly got one back when they were awarded a penalty, but Henry pulled off a great save managing to turn the ball round the post. W&C did score a few minutes later when Marshfield failed to deal with a corner and the home team managed to poke the ball home in the ensuing goal mouth scramble. Sensing an unlikely comeback W&C poured forward but Marshfield held firm and a commanding display from the back four and Henry saw them over the line. A great win away to one of the best teams in the league. Scorers: Aneiron, Ethan 2, Callum Magic moment: Either Ethan's fantastic lob or Henry's penalty save that gave the team belief they could go on to win Chippenham Town Just too Strong for Marshfield Chippenham Town Youth Blue 4 - 1 Marshfield Juniors An excellent performance from Marshfield away at Chippenham Town went unrewarded as the hosts proved to be too strong for Marshfield. The difference in size between the two teams was remarkable and Marshfield were understandably tentative in the opening exchanges. However, they quickly got into their stride and despite conceding a relatively early goal, started to play some good football. Mas and Callum started to sense that they could dominate the midfield and took control of the ball spreading the play wide to Ethan and Rory on the flanks. There were several promisiing attacks and one sequence of 4 corners in quick succession that had the home defence rocking. Jerm and Josher pushed for the equaliser up front but just couldn't find a way through a packed Chippenham defence. It was the home supporters that were the more nervous as the visitors started to sense an upset. However, Chippenham looked very dangerous on the break and the pace of their front two tested the resolve of Josh and Alexander at centre back. Shortly before half time Chippenham scored against the run of play when a goal mouth scramble saw Marshfield fail to clear the ball and a scuffed shot from the edge of the area wrong footed Henry and the ball dribbled agonisingly into the corner of the net. It was harsh on the Marshfield keeper who had produced a commanding display, really taking charge of his penalty box. Half time 2-0 to Chippenham Town. The second half was a little more even, the home team started to respond to their coaches' urgent instructions form the side line and they scored again with another breakaway goal early in the half. Last year Marshfiield might have crumbled and conceded a hatful, but this year's team are made of sterner stuff. They continued to play well and push forward, although playing more long balls rather than the creative football they had showed in the first half. The threat of the Chipppenham front two kept full backs Alistair, Elias and Charlie penned back and they were unable to get forward and support the attacks. Marshfield finally scored thanks to a trade mark lightening-quick break down the left from Ethan, he took the ball round a startled Chippenham defender, got to the line, raced into the box and rifled the ball across the six yard box. Aneiron couldn't quite connect with it, but Callum following up blasted the ball home from just 3 yards almost breaking the net in the process, just as well Aneiron ducked! It was no more than Marshfield deserved and they battled valiantly for a second, only to be undone 10 minutes from the end when another breakaway goal saw the enormous Chippenham centre forward race through and seal the game with a cool finish past the advancing Henry. A great performance from Marshfield but all to no avail against the team who are likely to go on and win the league this season. Scorers: Callum Magic moment: The relish with which Callum blasted the ball home for Marshfield's only goal, a lot of frustration relieved in that shot. Late Withdrawals hit Marshfield Hard Marshfield Juniors 0 - 4 Westbury Youth A
Marshfield faced an uphill battle on Sunday. Already short of players with Henry and Josher on a cricket tour in Barbados and Harry W unavailable, two more late withdrawals meant Marhsfield had to start against the league leaders with just 10 men. Despite a battling performance and some committed tackling Marshfield were 2 down at the break. With no subs available, the lack of fitness in some areas started to show, particularly with Marshfield playing uphill in the second half. In truth, Westbury A dominated and poured forward and it was only thanks to some last ditch tackling and an inspired and committed display by stand-in keeper Jerm, that Marshfield conceded just 2 more in the second half. Chances for the home team were few and far between with the 10 men of Marshfield struggling to find any width or threat in front of goal. Let's hope for better fortune next week with the team restored to full strength (and 11 players!) against FC Chippenham Youth. It should be a close encounter, Marshfield having won the league match at the Withymead and Chippenham taking the honours in the cup. Scorers: Magic moment: The final whistle. Marshfield Back in the Groove Marshfield Juniors 6 - 0 Westbury Youth B
Marshfield produced a much better performance against Westbury B than they had in the previous match against Bishop Cannings. The home team dominated from the start and should really have been 3 up in the first 10 minutes. Ethan and Rory ran the defence ragged with probing runs down the flanks, Callum producing some beautifully weighted passes from the centre of midfield to set them free. Ethan opened the scoring when he managed to get on the end of one of Rory's crosses into the box, firing home from close range. More goals quicly followed as the visitor's resistance crumbled, Callum scored (via a deflection) from a free kick, Jerm managed to scramble the ball home having originally slipped and sat on it. He scored his second in more elegant style, charging down a poor clearance to run in on goal and slot home past the keeper. Ethan aded a second and was cruelly denied his hat-trick when he jinked his way into the box and scored a lovely goal, only to be called back by the ref and given a free-kick on the edge of the area. To be fair, the ref did come over and apologise to the whole team at half-time for not allowing the advantage. The only scare came when the visitors were awarded a penalty following a challenge in the box by Harry S, although the home fans felt he'd clearly got the ball. Henry came to the rescue when he read the spot kick, stood his ground and collected the ball as it was driven straight down the middle. Admirable concentration considering he had had little to do in the first 35 minutes. 5-0 at half time. The second half was more scrappy, Marshfield continued to control the game and Henry had one of his quietest games in goal, thanks to solid defending from Josh and Alexander, who have developed a really strong understanding in central defence. They both hold the line well and show a real turn of pace when attackers threaten. This gives the full backs - Elias and Alistair (and Harry S and Charlie on as subs) the chance to charge forward in support of the midfield. They are also well protected by Mas, who is growing into the holding midfield role really well. Marshfield still managed to create more chances in the second half, Ethan continuing to cause real problems and Aneiron adding a different dimension, but the ball refused to go in - until Josher stepped up and struck a beauty from the edge of the area. 6-0 at full time and in truth it could have been a lot more, a really good response to last weeks poor showing. Scorers: Jerm 2, Ethan 2, Callum, Josher Magic moment: Ethan's goal that never was, great build up, great run, shrugged off a foul, scored a great goal and got nothing to show for it! Bishop Nearly Takes Juniors Marshfield Juniors 1 - 1 Bishop Cannings
The enforced winter break clearly had an effect on the home team. Normally full of running and passing Marshfield looked jaded and disjointed against bottom of the league Bishop Cannings. Marshfield took the lead early on thanks to a good break down the right flank by Aneiron. His cross was met by Jerm, who tucked the ball home from close range. With the visitors starting the game with a goal difference of -66, the home supporters settled in for a goal fest. But it wasn't to be. Marshfield failed to exert any pressure on the much bigger Bishop Cannings team and when the visitors equalised it looked like they might go on and claim an unlikely victory. Time and again they broke through and it was a combination of great last ditch tackling from Alexander, good keeping from Henry and poor finishing that meant the honours were even at full time. Hopefully Marshfield will get the winter out of their system in time for the next match against lowly Westbury Youth B. Scorers: Jerm Magic moment: Aneirons run and cross, a high point in a scrappy game. Marshfield Juniors 2 - 5 Chippenham Town Youth Blue Tough day at the office for Marshfield against table topping Chippenham Town. The Withymead lived up to it's reputation for wild weather, with strong winds playing a part throughout the game and a torrential downpour at the end sending the home supporters home thoroughly wet and cold. The visitors took the lead early in the first half as they asserted their physical superiority, and doubled it shortly afterwards as the home team struggled to come to terms with the visitors pace on the break. However, despite conceding two early goals the team refused to buckle and began to play their football. There was some lovely passing and movement and Marshfield grew in confidence as they took the game to the visitors. However, it was a long clearance from Josh at the back that led to the home team's opening goal, the wind carried the ball over the Chippenham defence and Jerm pounced on it to race clear and slot the ball home. Marshfield began to dominate and push for the equaliser as the visitors started to look a little rattled. The second goal came when Ethan forced his way through and stayed strong to hold off the aggressive challenges of the Chippenham defenders, he managed to stay on his feet just long enough to deftly stroke the ball past the stunned keeper. 2-2 at half time and a real sense of hope for the home supporters. The second half began brightly but Chippenham, with the wind at their backs, began to pour forward and it was only a matter of time before they took the lead again. The goals came in a bit of a rush, two quick goals were followed by a 30 yard speculative drive that swirled in the wind and left Henry with no chance as it dipped just under the crossbar. At 5-2 down, it looked like it might turn into a rout, but again Marshfield showed real character and battled their way back into the match. As the weather deteriorated and the wind picked up it became increasingly hard to play football and Marshfield's efforts unfortunately came to nothing. As the rain blasted in horizontally and the wind showed little respect for the FA Respect barrier, it was something of a relief for all when the referee blew his whistle for full time. Certainly no shame in defeat for a spirited Marshfield team against a very useful looking Chippenham Town. Scorers: Jerm, Ethan Magic moment: Has to be Ethan's goal, the way he held off the challenge of two enormous centre backs was a great example of the whole team's battling qualities. Battling Win at Westbury Westbury Youth A 2 - 3 Marshfield Juniors A hard fought and well deserved win at Westbury pushed Marshfield up to third in the table yesterday. The game started well for Marshfield, who controlled the early possession and played some lovely football. They deservedly took the lead early on thanks to another route 1 goal from the in form Jerm. A powerful clearance from the impressive Josh at centre back caught the Westbury defence napping and Jerm slipped in behind them and slotted the ball calmly past the enormous Westbury keeper. The game opened up a little and the Westbury attack started to look dangerous. their centre forward was lightning fast and they used the width of the pitch well. However, Marshfield battled hard and the back four of Josh, Alexander, Alistair and Elias held firm until the half hour mark when Westbury broke clear and their impressive centre forward slotted the ball past the advancing Henry. The lead didn't last long. Josh won the ball in defence and this time burst up the touchline, he was clearly fouled and the visiting supporters were howling in anguish for a free kick, but the ref had spotted a great advantage and allowed play to continue. Josh crossed the ball into the box and found Jerm, who was one on one with the keeper again. This time he took it round the keeper and calmy slotted the ball into the empty net. 2-1 to Marshfield at half-time. The second half saw a much more determined Westbury take control of the game. Marshfield battled bravely and fought for every ball, but there was a sense of inevitability about the equaliser. Again a route 1 ball over the top and the centre forward was one on one with Henry and calmy tucked the ball away. Last year Marshfield heads would have gone down, but this year they have found a new determination. While Westbury pushed for the winner Marshfield refused to give up. They tackled and fought for everything. Mas provided excellent cover for the back four, Ethan and Rory were up and down their wings like demons, attacking when they could and helping out in defence whenever Westbury had the ball. Ethan in particular was the victim of some very tough tackling from Westbury, credit to him for keeping going until the end. Aneiron came on and as usual caused problems for the opposition, popping up all over the park. Harry S added some steel to the back four and Josher took control of the midfield after Callum was forced to leave the pitch injured at half time. It was a nailbiting finish and it went to Marshfield. Callum back on the pitch for the last 10 minutes won a free kick wide on the right, the ball was lofted over the static defence to Jerm, who couldn't beleive his luck as the defenders stood and watched him and wasted no time in poking the ball past the Westbury keeper to complete his hat-trick. With 5 minutes to go, Marshfield hung on desperately for the win, Westbury poured forward and might have grabbed an equaliser were in not for Henry's heroics in goal. The final chance went to the Westbury danger man, this time Henry got the better of him as he closed on goal. Henry rushed out to narrow the angle and the striker's shot slid just past the post. It was a great win for a very determined Marshfield team. Scorers: Jerm 3 Magic moment: Josh Gam's surging run up the touchline, shrugging off foul tackles and setting up the 2nd goal for Jerm. 009 Fires Marshfield Back to Winning Ways Marshfield Juniors 2 - 1 FC Chippenham A great win for Marshfield yesterday in a game played in typical Withymead conditions - very, very windy. As a result the game was fairly scrappy and there were few chances in the first half for either team. The Marshfield back 4 looked solid, with Alexander and Josh beginning to form a good centre back combination, the full backs Harry W, Elias and Chopper also looked the part, clearing their lines well. Just one slip in concentration let Chippenham in to score the only goal of the half with a speculative route 1 ball up the middle. The wind got hold of it and left the Marshfield defence stranded, the striker leaving the advancing Henry with no chance. At half time, Mike and Ken urged the team to be more adventurous and changed from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2, pushing Josher up to join Jerm leading the line. This created more space in midfield and Callum and Mas started to find time to play and feed Rory and Ethan, who were both tireless charging up and down the wings. Aneiron too came on and made a nuisance of himself up front, tieing up the defence and creating chances. Marshfield started to look the better team and Callum, Jerm and Josher all had decent chances to open the Marshfield account. The goal finally came, not through pretty football, but with a huge clearance from the back, which caught the Chippenham defence napping and set Jerm away from inside his own half, he was one on one with the keeper and took the ball to the edge of the area before slotting coolly home. Marshfield sensed a win that had looked unlikely in the first half and played some good football, despite the conditions. The winner came with 10 minutes to go, Harry W linked well with Mas and Ethan, the latter stormed up the line and his cross into a crowded box found Jerm, who managed to turn and thread the ball through a crowd of players into the bottom right hand corner. That woke up the Chippenham team who chagred forward looking for an equaliser, but the defence stayed solid and Henry pulled off a couple of brave saves diving in at the feet of the opposition strikers. The final play of the game saw a great corner from Chippenham, which was met on the far post by one of their tall centre backs, but fortunately for Marshfield his effort went inches wide. A good win and a great effort, in some very difficult conditions and more importantly bragging rights at school on Monday to Marshfield. Scorers: Jerm 2 Magic moment: Seeing that final effort from the corner slip just past the post in the last second Worton Woe Marshfield Juniors 2 - 6 Worton & Cheverell Marshfield had a tough day at the office against a very good Worton team. Our bogey team over the years chalked up another victory with a well deserved 6-2 win. Although the lads tried hard, the ball just wouldn't run for them and in the end the better team won. Scorers: Jerm 2 Magic Moment: The final whistle! Bad Luck at Bradford Bradford Town Youth 5 - 3 Marshfield Juniors
Marshfield's winning start came to an end against an energetic Bradford team on Sunday. The teams were evenly matched and the final scoreline doesn't tell the whole story. Although Bradford scored first, Marshfield were the better team in the first half and scored three absolutely cracking goals. The first was a joy to watch with a flowing move from one end of the pitch to the other. Harry S won the ball and fed Josher, whose one-two with Callum sent the captain away down the right, he skinned the full back, made it to the line and put in a superb cross which Josher met with a beautiful glancing header to leave the Bradford keeper with no chance. Jerm then put Marshfield in the lead with a stunning shot from 25 yards, which the keeper didn't even see as it flew into the net. Marshfield didn't have it all their own way as a Bradford countered with several long-ball attacks. Their lively centre forward was a constant threat, and produced a fantastic save from Henry, who saw the danger as the tall no.9 broke through and raced out of his goal to smother a powerful shot. Marshfield had the final say in the half with a great solo goal from Callum. He read a throw in near the half way line, pinched the ball from the Bradford player and stormed up the left wing, rounded the full back, cut back into the box and beat the keeper at his near post with a beatifully placed drive. 3-1 to the visitors at half time. The second half started brightly for the visitors with Ethan putting a beautiful cross into the back post, Callum met it with a powerful header but agonisingly it went inches wide of the post. Play then raced down to the other end and as Marshfield dealt with the attack, they were breaking out of defence when a desperately unlucky bobble caught Mas on the arm and the referee awarded a harsh penalty. Henry guessed the right way but couldn't keep out a well struck penalty. Another strange refereeing decision saw Josher put a quickly taken free-kick from the edge of the Bradford box just inches wide of the post. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors and Bradford began to dominate. Josh and Alexander coped with most of the pressure but Bradford finally equalised with a breakaway goal through the centre and took the lead minutes later. The killer blow came from a well struck corner, which was met by a powerful header to make it 5-3. After the first half performance Marshfield deserved to take something from the game. Scorers: Jerm, Josher, Callum Magic moment: Marshfield's first goal, a great break, brilliant cross and fantastic header, it would have graced any Premiership match. All Hale the ALE!
Marshfield Juniors 1 - 0 Warminster Highbury Marshfield's great start to the season continued with a hard fought win over a very good Warminster team. It was a scrappy match with chances at a premium. Marshfield finally opened up the opposition defence in the second half, with a telling ball across the face of goal from Callum. The cross was pounced on by the ever lively Aneiron LE, who managed to bundle the ball home with the keeper stranded. Stout defending made sure it turned out to be the winning goal, the team deserve a lot of praise for the perseverance and concentration which denied Warminster a way back into the game. Scorers: Aneiron Magic moment: ALE's winnning goal. What a start!
Marshfield Juniors 5 - 1 AFC Corsham A great start to the season with a resounding victory over near rivals Corsham this weekend. the game started scrappily with both teams struggling to find shape and rythmn. Marshfield were perhaps a little lucky to take a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Jerm and Josher, although both were well taken, the second following a great through ball from Mas. However, Corsham were the first team to really start playing well and began to dominate the first half with some penetrating runs down the flanks. Henry managed to keep them at bay until they sprang the offside trap once too often, slotting the ball home following a break up the middle. Marshfield kept battling though and went into the break 2-1 up. Mike's team talk really did turn it into a game of two halves. Marshfield totally dominated play after the break, the shape was better with Mas providing great cover for the back four giving Callum room to control the game from midfield. Ethan and Rory were a constant threat down the flanks and Marshfield deservedly extended thier lead when one such break put Jerm in the clear and he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the area. Josh marshalled the defence well and he and Alisatair, back to his tough tackling best, snuffed out attack after attack from the visitors. The full-backs were able to get forward and Alexander, Elias and Harry S all enjoyed foraging runs forward. Aneiron too caused problems when he came off the bench. Marshfield continued to exert more pressure and Jerm completed his hat-trick with a cool finish from close range. Josher wrapped up the scoring with another great lob from the edge of the area. A great start to the season, with Marshfield playing some of their best football in a long time, let's hope they can keep it up for the next game at home to Warminster Highbury. Scorers: Jerm 3, Josher 2 Magic moment: The move up the right flank in the 2nd half - started by Harry S, carried on by Callum and finished by Rory, it didn't result in a goal but was a fantastic move, cutting the opposition wide open.
